Generally most medical journals require a subscription or membership of a learned society in order to read detailed articles. Only the abstract is usually available.
Nowadays there is a trend for journals to become open access i.e full articles can be read without payment of a fee.
Today the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology announced they were now accepting submissions for a new open access journal called “Clinical and Translational Allergy” and that the journal would launch soon
A Canadian allergy journal was, in 2009 the first in this specialty to offer open access.
These journals are published by BioMed Central, an open access publisher now, offering access to 212 Journals across various specialties. (February 2011)
